Zonta Club of Cebu 2, now 40 years old Ruby!

They had everything!

A majestic floor-to-ceiling welcome sign adorned with ruby red and white flowers, elegant ladies in flowing ruby red dresses, a dramatic scene shining with glows and greens, in a fabulously hip venue, Radisson Blu Cebu!

Indeed, the Zonta Club of Cebu 2 left no stone unturned as it marked 40 years of dedicated advocacy and service to elevate the status of women globally.

The memorable evening began with the official Zonta prayer and chanting perfectly enlivened by Zontian Mary Rose Maghuyop as her vibrant voice continued to announce the evening’s activities.

Proudly, the Club introduced its special guest Manila Zonta District 17 Governor, Ofelia Bautista, along with visitors from Mother Club Zonta Cebu 1, led by President Jane Panganiban.

The microphone then went to Ruby’s event chairman, attorney Zontian Regal Oliva, assisted by co-chairman Myrna Cruz Tan, who gave a brief but insightful list of club concerns.

Articulate Zonta 2 President, Attorney Mae Elaine Bathan then shared her thoughts with the crowd as new members were welcomed to Zonta.

Of course, the highlight of the event was the thought-provoking address by special guest Governor Bautista, which inspired the battle cry of her biennium Zontian colleagues “Stop Child Brides and Teenage Pregnancies”, for which she was applauded.

The dinner was superb as the ladies showed up at the buffet not once but twice as the entertainment was enjoyed by all.

Happy 40 years, as the guests toasted the celebrants, in an orchestrated glass raising. To more pleas and services!

Each then took home a souvenir, an elegant ruby-colored brooch.

What else? Congratulations on a perfectly planned birthday, Zontians!
