MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) – West Virginia Network (WV NET) is hosting the “West Virginia Statewide Technology Conference” July 18-20 at the Morgantown Event Center and Morgantown Mariott.
It has brought together several hundred educators, consultants, managers, and administrators who work from K-12 through college to share tech secrets with others. There were also 50-60 vendors who demonstrated items that can be incorporated into the education to make it more exciting and memorable.
This is the first year back at Morgantown since 2017. It was an annual event before the five-year hiatus which was due to some transitions at WV NET and the COVID-19 pandemic. There were a lot of people asking WV NET to bring the conference back, so they relaunched it this year.
WV NET Director Dr. Carl Powell mentioned that there is always room to grow and that he was happy with how the conference went after not having it for the past few years. last five years.
“West Virginia is very large, so we don’t always have the opportunity to come together to compare notes and ideas and thoughts with others across the state,” Powell said. “Without school in session, it’s easier to sit down, relax, come together and share them to hopefully bring back something to share with the students.”
Sessions like this are happening all over West Virginia, not just Charleston and Morgantown. Powell says it’s important for others to realize that educators are coming together to make education more exciting across the state. They are passionate about what they do and want to put some of that passion into the students.
“I think it’s nice to be a part of it, there’s been a lot of planning and a lot of excitement to put things together,” Powell said. “And we finally got to this point where, you know, the race is going to start – start moving forward. To see people coming in here, who have just come out of an exciting session. So to see the energy and to see people chatting between them, it’s really magical to be part of it.
