River Hawks Sweep AE Weekly Awards

BOSTON– After leading the River Hawks to third and fourth place at the 2022 Beantown Challenge last weekend, UMass Lowell’s men’s and women’s track and field programs took home the weekly America East awards, as announced by the conference Tuesday morning.

Graduate students Derek holmes (Marshfield, Massachusetts) and Kaley richards (Lowell, Mass.) Were named AE Track Artist of the Week for their outstanding 3,000-meter victories. The two veterans took first place in the event to earn 10 points for their respective teams.

Holmes won first place by a six-second margin, crossing the finish line in 8: 14.98 for second place in 8: 20.41. Likewise, Richards led the female crew with an impressive time of 9: 33.39, almost 12 seconds ahead of the field.

The sophomore pole vault pair Maxwell Davis (Stoneham, Mass.) And senior Rachel Hill (North Reading, Mass.) Landed the weekly track performer of the week nods for her performance at Cambridge. In their first test of the season, Davis crossed 14’4 “to claim third place in the event and six points for UMass Lowell’s team score, while Hill climbed over 11 ‘ 8 “to take fourth place in the general classification of the event.
