Live news from the 2022 budget session: Hailing India’s fight against novel coronavirus, President Ram Nath Kovind, addressing the budget session of Parliament, said, “India’s ability to fight Covid-19 was evident in its program vaccination. In less than a year, we achieved a record administration of more than 150 million doses of vaccine. Today, we are one of the first countries in the world in terms of the number of doses administered.
Addressing the nation ahead of the budget session of Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while welcoming all lawmakers, said the session would showcase India’s economic growth to the world. “In the current global situation, there are many opportunities for India. This session instills confidence in the world regarding the economic progress of the country, the immunization program and the vaccines made in India,” the Prime Minister added.
The first leg of Parliament’s budget session begins today amid a high-octane campaign for Assembly elections in five states. The session begins with the President’s address which, according to the Lok Sabha schedule, will take place in the central hall at 11 am.
Half an hour after the President’s speech, the Lok Sabha will sit for the transaction of business. The budget session is due to end on April 8, with the first part continuing until February 11. There will be a break from February 12 to March 13 while the standing committee reviews budget allocations.
