Christmas Wishes Paying It Forward seeks sponsor for holiday gift bags – Nebraska City News Press

Christmas Wishes Paying It Forward is looking for individuals and businesses to donate the following items for this year’s holiday gift bags for cancer patients: lightweight fleece blankets, men’s and women’s socks, travel pillows, bags cosmetic containers, refillable water bottles, 2023 appointment calendars, adult coloring books and colored pencils, individually wrapped snacks (cookies, chips or crackers), gift cards or gift certificates of 15 $ to local businesses and hard candies.

Event organizer Margaret Spiers said Christmas Wishes Paying It Forward will also provide thank you gift bags to nurses at CHI Health St. Mary’s. The goal is eight cancer patients and 40 or more nurses, she said.

The organization’s goal is to find 10 companies or individuals who will contribute $30 or more for each goodie bag category, Spiers said.

Christmas Wishes Paying It Forward started in 2017 when her first wish was granted. Last year, Spiers said the group donated 80 gift bags to first responders and eight to cancer patients.

Spires, who has been a 25-year breast cancer survivor, said donations can be made to the Arbor Bank C/O Margaret Spiers Christmas Club/Christmas Wishes account.

Spiers thanked event sponsors JJ Palmtag and Lied Lodge and Conference Center/Arbor Day Farm.

Donations will be accepted through Thanksgiving Day. Text 402-874-0308 for more information.
