A&T Outdoor Track and Field opens at HPU

HIGH POINT – North Carolina A&T opened its 2022 outdoor track and field season Friday at the Bob Davidson Invitational hosted by High Point University at Vert Stadium.

The Aggies men, who just finished second nationally at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, did not compete extensively at HPU on Friday. The ladies didn’t have many entries either.

On the women’s side, graduate Loren James opened his final outdoor season finishing fourth in the hammer with a throw of 173 feet, 3 inches. Senior Teammate Jasmine Jenkins finished fifth with a throw of 172 feet and 8 inches.

James and Jenkins arrive at the Big South Conference Indoor Event Championships as James won the shot put and Jenkins took the shot put.

The other lady in action was senior Joy Harris. She placed eighth in the javelin when her best throw was 115 feet and 1 inch.

The men had two runners in the 5,000 meters. Senior Morris Kimble finished eighth (15:42.70) and senior Jordan Richardson ninth (15:46.68).

The Aggies are back in action at Vert Stadium on Saturday. The field events begin at 10 a.m. with the men’s and women’s shot put. The track events begin at noon with the women’s 4×400 meter relay.
