AN UPDATED PRENATAL TEST BROCHURE ON DOWN SYNDROME

Denver, Atlanta and New York, November 24, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – The Global Down Syndrome Foundation (GLOBAL), the National Down Syndrome Congress (NDSC) and the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) are pleased to announce that they have entered into a strategic collaboration to co-publish the brochure Prenatal Screening and Information on Down Syndrome (PTP), an important free resource. This is the first resource for expectant parents that is supported by the three national Down Syndrome advocacy organizations.

The PTP was established in 2012 by GLOBAL and NDSC and was informed by the first national survey of pregnant women, OBGYNs, OBGYN nurses and genetic counselors. He has also been examined by Down syndrome and other health professionals. The content includes information on which prenatal tests are definitive and which are not, what parents and families can expect, the first steps and resources. The PTP is available in English, Spanish and Icelandic.

“We are delighted that NDSS President and CEO Kandi Pickard and her team have agreed to join us in supporting the TPP,” said Michelle Sie Whitten, GLOBAL President and CEO. “Together, we can do so much more: translation into many other languages, more representation at conferences and distribution to doctors’ offices, organizations with Down’s syndrome and families. “

Shauntel Neal-Howe, Chairman of the NDSC Board of Directors, said: “This is a wonderful collaboration of national organizations and a big step forward for the Down syndrome community. We look forward to working with GLOBAL and NDSS on this very important initiative. “

“NDSS works in conjunction with our colleagues to support the entire Down syndrome community,” said Kandi Pickard, President and CEO of NDSS. “We are delighted to be working with our friends at GLOBAL and NDSC. Hope this is just the start!
