Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with over 150 startups as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, a week-long event, “Celebrating the Innovation Ecosystem”. According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the event is organized by the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Trade and Industry, from January 10 to 16. The event marks the 6th anniversary of the launch of the Startup India initiative.

Separately, the Samajwadi party grabbed headlines on Friday as many BJP MPs and ministers joined the SP days before the first phase of elections in Uttar Pradesh.

A huge crowd gathered at the inclusion of several Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders including former Uttar Pradesh minister Swami Prasad Maurya in the Samajwadi party ahead of the assembly elections. A case has been filed under the Epidemics Act for allegedly breaching the model code of conduct and Covid-19 protocol as a huge crowd gathered at the Samajwadi party headquarters in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh.

Also, people celebrated Makar Sankranti on Friday. Large number of people gathered at Gorakhnath temple to offer ‘Khichdi’ on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.

Apart from this, an improvised explosive device (IED) was found in an unattended bag in the flower market in Ghazipur, east Delhi on Friday, causing panic among the people. The IED was defused.

Delhi Police said they received reports of the unattended bag around 10:30 a.m. Friday, after which a fire engine was dispatched to the scene.
